2025 Popular Vote Award Categories

We are now in the voting period for the 2025 JaRIA Honour Awards Popular Vote categories, which runs until Friday, February 21, 2025.​

Breakthrough Artiste: This award is given to an emerging artiste in recognition of their progress in the industry from a dilettante to a professional in the previous year.  Considerations in determining nominees include the artiste’s impact as gauged by growth of fan base, critical acclaim, extent of touring internationally, and increased recognition of catalogue.

Song of the Year: This award is given to a Jamaican song that has attained critical and commercial acclaim locally and internationally during the period from January 1 to December 31 of the year prior to the award.  The song cannot contain any profanity, discriminatory or derogatory lyrics.

Album of the Year: The album must be of any Jamaican genre (Mento, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Dancehall, Dub), contain at least five different tracks totaling 30 minutes, and be commercially released locally and internationally within the eligibility period of January 1 to December 31, 2024. It must be free from copyright infringement claims, available for purchase on streaming platforms, and contain 60% of a Jamaican genre's playing time to qualify for a specific category.
